Current Acre Count: 165 acres - Target Acre Count: 258 acres
Since its foundation in 1989 the World Land Trust has been working to preserve the world's most biologically important and threatened lands and has helped purchase and protect over 300,000 acres of habitats rich in wildlife, in Belize, Costa Rica, the Philippines, South America and the UK.
The particular WLT project we have decided to support is the REGUA Project in Brazil which aims to protect a reserve in one of the largest remaining areas of Brazil's Atlantic rainforest. The Atlantic rainforest is considered one of the most endangered and ecologically important eco-regions in the world. Due primarily to clearing of forests for coffee plantations and logging for hardwoods there is now only 7% of the original area remaining, most of which consists of isolated fragmented patches. Lloyd James Group are committing to purchase acres of rainforest in the Guapi Assu Reserve in Brazil on a monthly basis, funded by profits. Our target in year one will be to purchase one complete rainforest of 258 acres.
The patron of the Trust is Sir David Attenborough. He says "The World Land Trust's policy of buying land is the most direct and certain road to conservation. It deserves the support of all who care about the survival of the wild places of the world."

For over a century, The Caldecott Foundation has been caring for children who have suffered extremes of abuse and neglect, providing residential care for children aged 5-16, together with education in the on-site school and therapies to maximise each individual's life chances. Children arrive by way of referral from social services, education and health departments. They are children who have experienced extreme hardship and suffering, having been devastated by physical, sexual and emotional abuse and from neglect within their own families. They have been deprived of the capacity to grow and thrive and are the children no one wants to know – awkward, aggressive, hard to teach and always in trouble. Their behaviour means they have been excluded from schools and housed in multiple placements before being referred to Caldecott.
The Caldecott approach is non judgmental, they try to help the children come to terms with their past, understand their feelings and rebuild their fragmented lives. They offer a safe and secure environment in which the children can look back at their traumatic experiences and deal with their feelings of anger, sadness and hurt. With support they are encouraged to move forward, to experience personal relationships, care and discipline, to establish trust in adults and to eventually take their place in society with confidence and courage.
Lloyd James are committed to a number of fundraising activites and events for Caldecott.
